Under the initiatives of Indian professor SD Muni, who is stationed in Singapore at present, UCPN-M supremo Pushpakamal Dahal visited Singapore. It is said Muni advised Dahal to go on this visit.
According to Drishti vernacular weekly, through Muni’s coordination, NC supremo Girija Prasad Koirala and UCPN-M supremo Dahal held a secret meeting.
Meanwhile other sources add, Muni, who is monitoring political developments in Nepal, insisted that CPN (UML) President Jhala Nath Khanal also be present in Singapore by Tuesday. At the time of this news being written, it was still not certain whether Khanal heeded Muni's directives. Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala is also with her father in Singapore. This attendance of top level Nepalese politicians in Singapore is drawing the attention of all political observers here.
Meanwhile, according to Drishti weekly, Aananda Sowrup Verma, a leftist journalist from India, is also in Singapore.
To recall, Muni was the designer of bringing the then terrorist declared Maoist in the mainstream politics and also paving the path for the signing of the 12-point agreement between the seven parties and the Maoist in New Delhi.
Dahal returned home on Wednesday after the secret meeting with Girija in Singapore.
The present coalition government which is facing a crisis from the budget issue, may collapse if a new alliance is developed between Koirala and Dahal in Singapore.
Meanwhile, a source informed that Maoist Chairman Dahal had decided to go to Singapore on aa Silk Air flight, but when he learnt that former Crown Prince Paras was also going to Singapore on the same flight, he decided to go to Singapore on a Thai Airlines flight via Bangkok.
