Khurana's days and nights were mind-numbing now since there seemed no easy outlet from the elections of 'independent' Nepal. People had even started to express their concern looking at Khurana's lean body. Khurana was only hopeful that he could find a solution to the problems. The person who was most concerned was his wife who would even make attempts to share his problem, but Khurana would never permit that to happen, which was very typical of his character.
Khurana woke up once the bell of the emergency telephone rang. It could be noone other than the chief calling. "Yes sir," he said over the phone.
"Khurana, I need to see you urgently!:
Khurana had to leave. He took a brief shower, took his car and headed towards the head office. He walked straight to the emergency meeting room. There were few high level officers including the chief himself. Upon seeing Khurana enter the room, the chief asked, "So did you hear about the news there?"
Khurana obviously had no clue. He shook his head and asked, "What happened?"
The chief asked the head of intelligence to handover the report to Khurana and to brief him about the latest developments.
The head of the intelligence picked the file and adjusting his reading glasses on his face said, "According to the news received from Lainchour, the power in Nepal has toppled down. Violence, killings and vandalism has escalated. The news broadcasts have been giving such news but there has been no official reports."
Khurana became tensed and asked, "The reports of violence was always expected. But there were no chances of the toppling down of power."
The chief said, "The issue here is not just the toppling of the power. According to the reports aired by the medias, the government will not just withdraw the regulation, but also not hold the elections."
"Oh my God! This is not good then. Does that indicate that all our efforts and investment will go to waste?" Khurana was concerned.
