Binod Chaudhary, Chairman of Chaudhary Group (CG) has been awarded with 4th Global Officials of Dignity (GOD) Awards’ Asian Man of the Year-2016’.
We Care for Humanity (WCH), a US-based humanitarian organization awarded Chaudhary amid 4th GOD Awards and 3rd WCH Humanitarian Summit held on August 17-19, 2016 at the Delegates Dining Room United Nations Headquarters, New York. “He has been recognized for his outstanding philanthropic works in post-earthquake Nepal,” informs the company in a press statement.
The humanitarian arm of Chaudhary Group, Chaudhary Foundation, is carrying out large-scale rehabilitation works after the 2015 earthquake that devastated Nepal. After the massive initial relief works in central Nepal, the Foundation started building transitional shelters for the earthquake survivors and school buildings in the affected areas. Till date, the foundation has delivered almost 3,000 shelters and 40 schools in 12 of the most affected districts in central Nepal. Besides that from the physical rehabilitation, the foundation is working toward economic self-dependence of the earthquake-affected people in the affected areas. In addition, the Foundation continues to promote rural entrepreneurship based on indigenous technology and skills through its ongoing programs of Nepal Social Business.
Accordingly, CG Sipsikshya and CG Unnati projects are underway for women empowerment and self-reliance, and skill development of the youth.
Former Prime Minister of Nepal Khilraj Regmi, noted Indian leader and Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Jayalalitha, fourteenth President of Yugoslavia Stjepan Mesic, Former President of Ecuador Rosalia Arteaga, and tenth Vice President of Kenya Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka were among the others who were also awarded on the occasion for their special contributions in their respective areas.
