Chuna Mani Upreti (Gore) considered as the main agent in the 33-kg gold smuggling case, has been sent to Central Jail, Sundhara.
He was brought to Kathmandu from Morang citing security reasons.
Along with Gore, three other gold racketeers — Bhujung Gurung, a leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (democratic), Tshering Wanggel Ghal and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shyam Bahadur Khatri have also been brought to the Central Jail.
Gore was brought to the capital and put in the Golghar, a special and highly protected place within the jail, for his security after the Morang District Court ordered he be put in jail till the final hearing in the gold scam case.
Earlier, Gore had been imprisoned in the Morang District Jail.
Gore, SSP Khatri and Ghale had surrendered to the District Court, Morang in May.
