President Bidya Devi Bhandari is now on an official visit to Qatar. She had flown to Qatar on Monday at the friendly invitation of the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.
She was greeted in Qatar by the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, Dr Issa Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi, the ambassador of Qatar to Nepal, Yousuf bin Mohamed al-Hail and Nepal’s ambassador to Qatar Ramesh Prasad Koirala.
During the President’s visit, Nepal and Qatar were scheduled to sign several MoUs, opening many areas for more growth and development, especially in energy, investment and trade between the two countries.
The President’s entourage comprises Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali; secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shanker Das Bairagi; secretary at the Office of President, Binod KC;Nepal Investment Board’s chief executive officer Maha Prasad Adhikari and President’s chief private secretary Bhesh Raj Adhikari, among others.
Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun bid farewell to the President at the VVIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). National Assembly’s chair Ganesh Timilsina, Speaker of House of Representatives Krishna Bahadur Mahara, members of the Council of Ministers, Chief Secretary Lok Darshan Regmi, government secretaries, and chiefs of securities bodies were at TIA to see off the President.
The President will return home on Thursday.
