Police have freed Bishal Chaudhary, one of the alleged suspects in the murder of 13-year old Nirmala Panta of Kanchanapur.
Chaudhary, 16, a permanent resident of Bhimdutta Municipality-18 of Kanchnapur district, was in the police custody of Maharajgunj-based Metropolitan Police Circle, Kathmandu for police interrogation for 18 days.
He was released on Saturday. However, another suspect Pradeep Rawal is still in the police custody.
According to the police, Chaudhary was released 18 days after his arrest. He was arrested on December 4 upon the statement furnished by Pradeep Rawal.
Chaudhary was handed over to his family in the presence of Kanchanpur police.
Chaudhary was handed over to his father Bir Bahadur Chaudhary in the presence of police sub-inspector Narendra Bhandari and police personnel Ramesh Panta.
Chaudhary was released after his DNA test could not matched the vaginal swab found on Nirmala’s body.
Chaudhary said that he owned up the allegation in a fear of police torture in Kanchanpur.
