Kathmandu, Mar 16: Female teachers of the constituent campuses of Tribhuvan University across the country have been protesting demanding minimum quotas of campus chiefs for women lecturers in the TU affiliated campuses.
The stir that first began from Kathmandu’s Padma Kanya Campus has spread across the country. The teachers, employees and students of the country’s first girls campus took to the street when TU appointed a male campus chief (Prof. Dhanapti Pandi ) ignoring their demand for a female campus chief.
Moreover, the women teachers felt insulted when Vice Chancellor Prof. Tirtha Raj Khaniya said that TU was not obliged to abide by the provision of 33 per cent reservation for women in the key posts of the university.
The angry women teachers have padlocked the offices of the Vice Chancellor, Rector Prof. Dr. Sudha Tripathi and Registrar Prof. Dilli Ram Uprety for over a week demanding that at least 33 per cent reservation for women teachers in the leadership position in the TU campuses.
