Senior journalist, editor and publisher of the Motherland English daily, Manindraraj Shrestha died of cardiac arrest on Saturday, 16 March.
After the arrest, he was rushed to the Norvic Hospital from his residence in Tahachal. The Hospital declared him dead.
Late Shrestha’s last rites were performed at the Pashupati Aryaghat the same day.
Shrestha, founding member of the National News Agency, had published the Daily for decades. The Daily was the second newspaper publishing in English from the country. To note, the Commoner daily brought out by late Gopaldas Shrestha was the first English daily publishing from the country.
He had also contributed in formation of the Association of the Nepalese Journalists, which is popularly known today as Federation of the Nepalese Journalists.
Late Shrestha, 86, is survived by his wife, one son and one daughter.
