President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that it is the duty of all Nepali people to protect and preserve the nation’s tradition and culture.
Addressing the main function organised on the occasion of Janaki Nawami in Janakpurdham on Monday, President Bhandari said that everybody should be aware about fulfilling their responsibilities handed over to them by ancestors.
President Bhandari highlighted the importance of the Janaki Temple and the Mithila culture as a unique asset of the nation and asked all the three-tier of governments to preserve and promote them.
President Bhandari said such grand function would boost the socio-cultural harmony and national unity and integrity.
President Bhandari stressed on the importance of educating and empowering girls. She commended the ‘Educate and Protect Girls’ campaign launched by the State 2 government and asked the state government to launch other campaigns so as to continue the glorious history of Mithila.
She said it was a matter of worry to witness the social discrimination and evils in the land of King Janak, and saint Astbakra and Gargi.
“We should stand together to fight against such evils,” she said.
