NATO SG meets Pak FM, Peace in Afghanistan is a shared responsibility, Is China weaker than India?

Whatever may have been the interpretations in the political circuit, the fact is that China is afraid of India led by Prime Minister Narendra Bhai Modi — the real villain in this part of greater South Asia who has concurrently been taken as the most powerful leader in the contemporary world? What a terrible joke that it is for all practical reasons!
Is China really weaker than India with once again Modi assuming the seat of Indian premiership? Let’s discuss.
Undoubtedly, China is definitely weaker than India in Nepali politics. The general belief is that the Indian agents have dominated the political scene of the Nepali state. India virtually rules Nepal, much to the discomfort of the nationalist population. It is an insult of the Himalayan order though but the fact underneath is that one can’t reject easily the somewhat established notion. .
China understands this fact but has so far preferred to keep silence as if Beijing is happy enough to work with the Indo-pendent leaders and the media men who loiter around the mini Beijing mission in Nepal.
Beijing’s hands are tied visibly. Ambassador Yanqui though has opened a Twitter account to ventilate her impressions on Nepal-China ties. This is meaningful though.
If China is happy, then observers in Nepal have no reasons to be unhappy in Beijing’s faulty and self-defeating choice that it has opted for.
To be candid, India elevated, leaning and trusted and tested political men are talked to be ruling Nepal since 2006 after Shyam Saran pounced upon Nepal and its politics and gifted the republican order that is currently in force in the country with several political aberrations.
That 12 point agreement was a structured ploy to keep Nepal under the much desired security umbrella once and for all for which a clever India exported some of its brightest students of Nepali birth to control the Nepali politics and the fact is that Nepal is being run under the whims of the Indian managers thus exported to Nepal or by a set of Nepali nationals with heart and soul of the Indian nation. Nothing remains to hide.
Minister Jay Shankar shall begin to rule Nepal shortly, let’s presume so.
There is one Nepali leader who once even talked of inviting Indian military to tame late King Birendra. Thanks he was chased by his voters back home in Rauthat district just the other day. Erratic leaders are now being chased in Nepal.
Some even claim that this UML leader managed a free MBBS Indian scholarship seat for his “illustrious” daughter for having served the Indian nation wholeheartedly.
On the contrary, the men believed to be close to China too act double more often than not.
It is here again that China gets defeated by the pseudo friends. China needs to get out from this delusion. Earlier the better.
Or else why the Indian establishment under Modi would have dared once again to ignore the China designed Belt and Road Initiative at the SCO meet, BRI, as the South Asian regional bully had done so while meeting the Chinese President in Quingdo sometime in the year 2017 or 2018?
Or is it that China prefers to avoid the second war with India as per its failed quiet diplomacy?
This may be in order to keep the much publicized Wuhan spirit alive and kicking? China has reasons to keep India happy for the growth of the BRI perhaps for which China needs India’s positive signal.
Yes China is weaker than India got reflected when China in collaboration with India pounced upon Nepali land in Lipulek in 2016 for their bilateral trade conduct. China has yet to seek an apology from Nepal for its high handedness on Lipulek — the Nepali landmass.
China has in many more ways than one hurt the tender sentiments of the Nepali population. So the question is whether China is a reliable friend of Nepal?
The fact is that India, speaking in terms of diplomatic advantage that it has vis-à-vis China, must have been the strong combination of Indian foreign minister Jay Shankar and national security advisor Mr. Ajit Doval that appears to have greatly annoyed China as it thinks that this Indian diplomatic combo weighs far as compared to its diplomatic acumen which is in her possession at the moment?
Minister Wang Yi and Yang Jiechi combine perhaps fail to compete with the India’s ace diplomats.
And very interestingly, the emergence of Shankar and Doval in Delhi has in many more ways than one encouraged our own New Delhi’s “trusted and tested” hero of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Dr. Man Mohan Singh era, Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai who in a beaming manner told a gathering in Kathmandu recently that “for several decades, China can’t compete India” in Nepal.
Or in other words, Dr. Bhattarai meant to say that China is no match to India’s increasing strength.
Yes, he is correct if Nepal has nationals like him who feel more than honored as and when he secretly or even in an exposed manner serves India, which is what is being generally believed in Nepal’s political circuit.
However, Bhattarai has his rights reserved to differ with others. Observers shall respect his views and comments.
How can Dr. Bhattarai be incorrect in his assessment of China as he is the one in Nepal who understands India much better than the RAW and Ajit Doval plus Shankar combine? Bhattarai is not having even soft corner for China.
Bhattari possesses in-depth knowledge of the Indian regime for he is the one who has served, it is rumored, the Indian establishment over decades and decades and thus there is no harm in admitting Bhattarai as an “Expert on India”. Thanks Professor S.D. Muni who counted on Bhattarai for a variety of political reasons.
The Nepali nation can just wish for continued intimate ties of Bhattarai with the expansionist India which has so far gulped some six thousand hectares of Nepali landmass.
Neither Bhattarai has spoken in favor of Nepal nor have others of his ilk in the national politics against the land grab issue of Nepal by India.
This explains as to why the India elevated new rulers of Nepal feel scared in making any comments against India including Bhattarai and his former Chief Comrade Prachanda.
That Bhattarai is an India made political animal, as rumored and muscularly believed, has once again proved when he berated China as against the nation which treated him as near to a son-in-law personality while he was leading the Nepal-Maoists led People’s War by residing in Delhi. Bhattarai was taken special care by Indian security agencies, Mr. Bharat Dahal authentically claims.
And it was this war that was sponsored by Delhi which killed some seventeen thousand innocent lives of Nepali nationals. Is the Hague Tribunal listening?
Dr. Bhattarai is a declared China hater, however, why he chose this time to under-rate China is beyond Nepali observer’s imagination as his hatred against China has just come close on the heels of Prime Minister Modi’s straight NO to President Xi’s brain child — the Belt and Road Initiative.
Contrary to Bhattarai’s hatred, China needless to say is an emerging world power which is more or less competing the lone super power-the United States of America.
It is talked in Nepal’s top political circuit that Bhattarai makes comments only when he is told to ventilate India’s line of thinking pertaining to that of India’s.
It is very likely that Bhattarai shall ensure that China doesn’t exceed India in Nepal.
His party’s merger with Upendra’s too is talked to have been for a “purpose” charted by the common “remote control device” that handles both leaders.
The Bhattarai-Yadav political mix must have some intrinsic meaning could be to help support the Indian mission of splitting Nepal into several pieces.
The unification of Bhattari and Yadav is not in the larger interest of the nation – Nepal to put it modestly, however, this blend as stated earlier, is in line with the alien “designers” who had drafted the 12 point agreement whose dangerous fall outs the nation is very much suffering which is for all to see and feel. A political disaster is perhaps in the offing.
Dr. Bhattarai’s utterances made in the recent days or say weeks do hint that he and his alien mentors are planning something “BIG” for Nepal.
Now let’s come to the fresh theory that PM Modi is the most powerful man on earth.
This is absurd in that how can a Hindu fanatic leader, that PM Modi is, and the one who is known for his grand hatred against the Muslim and the dalit minorities inside his own country and more so taken as the most hatred oppressor in the immediate neighborhood be an intimate friend of the United States of America?
Very freshly the US State Department, in its annual 2018 International Religious Freedom Report released on last Friday, has said that mob attacks by violent extremist Hindu groups against the minority communities, particularly Muslims, continued in India in 2018.
“Mob attacks by violent extremist Hindu groups against minority communities, especially Muslims, continued throughout the year amid rumors that victims had traded or killed cows for beef,” the US report said.
The Indian side has denied the US allegation as was expected. However, writes the Swedish Professor of the Indian origin, Ashok Swain in his twitter handle, “After Modi’s victory, Hindutva mobs don’t see any need to mask their attacks against Muslims under cow protection or love-Jihad. Catching a Muslim and forcing him to chant Jai Shri Ram has become a new normal to target the minority community”.
The US Secretary of State who is currently in India may have touched upon the BJP’s immense hatred against the Muslim community. India may deny but facts remain facts. And Mike Pompeo can’t take India to task.
Indian news agencies have reported that one Muslim youth from Jharkhand named Tavrez Ahmed died on Saturday and a day after on Sunday, the Indian government rejected a US department of State report on “religious freedom” that raised questions about the government inability to curb violent attacks on the country’s minority Muslims.
Indeed the US is bit concerned by the atrocities committed upon the Indian Muslims (in effect people in minorities), however, the Indian government claims forcefully that PM Modi is not the divider in chief but instead is the unifier in chief to which it is not given the events that appear in the Indian media which shows that the Majority Hindus, mainly the men from the ruling BJP quarter have begun pouncing upon the minorities more so the Muslims after Modi’s fresh win in the elections.
Yet the Champion of the Democratic World, the US and the developed West, appear not to be in a mood to penalize this fundamentalist Hindu nation for the sake of their political interests.
The US needs India for the advancement of its Indo-Pacific Strategy in this part of South Asia. It is here that the US and its NATO allies fail.
However, the US must understand that it is this India which could ditch its former ally, the USSR and now the Russian federation, easily could change the camp if such a political switch over benefitted the Indian Union.
The US is thus advised to talk to India’s smaller neighbors first and ask what India means to them and then arrive at a conclusion as regards its ties with the India nation.
Smaller neighbors remain at constant fear as to when and for what reason India may impose Economic Blockade on any country of its choice?
For instance, Hundreds of households in Nepal have been freshly inundated at Narainpur due to high dam road constructed by the Holy country-India, in the bordering rural area of Bankey.
Says Ishtiak Ahmad Shah Chair of the Narainpur rural municipality that most of the villages in bordering area have been water logged due to the construction of dam like road by India in the South, so writes People’s Review weekly.
Notably, none of the high placed leaders have taken the courage to speak against India on this issue. And thus India rules over Nepal without any hitch and a helpless China stares.
Now some paragraphs on the regional issues: India has begun to feel the heat due to the Pakistan air space closure. The Indian aircrafts flying to Europe and more so to various destinations in the US ( places in the East and West Coast) are now obliged to take longer routes to arrive at their desired destinations which naturally is not only time consuming but has become quite expensive as well.
Reports say that Pakistan may open its air space by June 28. But some high placed sources claim that Pakistan has told India that its air space shall be opened only if India doesn’t repeat the Pakistani space incursion like what had happened in February this year after the Pulwama incident.
So far India has made no comments as expected and desired by Pakistan.
The cash strapped Pakistan has taken a fresh sigh of relief when Qatar on Monday announced a $3 billion direct investment package for Pakistan.
Talking to the state-run Qatari News Agency (QNA), Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said the Qatari support came after Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s visit to Pakistan to underscore the deep relations between the two brotherly countries and people.
Saudi Arabia, to recall, had some months earlier provided Pakistan a $3 billion loan and a similar amount every year in oil supply on deferred payments. Another Gulf state, the United Arab Emirates had also announced a $3 billion loan package for the country.
China had given $4.6 billion in shape of deposits and commercial loans. In total, the four countries have pledged to provide nearly $16 billion to Pakistan.
With the present support from the Qatari State, Pakistan hopefully has acquired the needed economic stamina that could keep the country’s economy going. The people though are feeling the hardships, claim several media sources.
At another plane, the Pakistan-Russia friendship appears to have taken a new height after the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meet which was very freshly held in the Kyrgyz Capital Bishkek, June 12-14, 2019, wherein President Vladimir Putin and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan were seen to have met each other more than five times on the sidelines of the SCO meet. Such a meet perhaps prepared the background for a Summit level talks in between the two leaders which is yet long overdue but in the pipeline.
That Pakistan and Russia need each other given the changed global politics and thus a high level meet between the two leaders could materialize either in Pakistan or in Russia itself.
High placed sources claim that since Islamabad wants to procure some advanced weapons from Russia and develop military-to-military relations, the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has told the Sputnik international news that “he is happy to note that Pakistan was moving “closer” to Russia in the “changing” world.
“Yes, we are looking for arms from Russia, and I know our military is already in touch with the Russian military,” Khan told Sputnik News last Thursday.
Pak-Russia friendship shall be meaningful in keeping the South Asian and the Central Asian region stable and secure. If China joins this club then a new axis shall be in place that shall match the Indo-Pacific Strategy wherein India is the designated boss of this region.
Such a compact ties in between the two, Russia and Pakistan, shall also have its positive impact in maintaining peace in and around Gulf region, Afghanistan and Iran as well.
PM Imran Khan is likely to embark on a visit to Russia soon.
In an encouraging political development, the NATO Secretary General Mr. Jens Stoltenberg and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi met ( Monday 24 June 2019) at NATO Headquarters and discussed a range of issues of mutual concern, news agencies claim.
NATO Head Quarter is in Brussels.
Mr. Stoltenberg welcomed Pakistan’s recent steps initiated in support of an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process and the latest encouraging developments in the bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Mr. Stoltenberg highlighted that an intra-Afghan dialogue should start as soon as possible, that momentum for peace should be preserved – including through a constructive approach from all countries in the region – and that lasting peace and security in Afghanistan benefit regional stability.
The US in and implied manner appreciates Pak role for the prevalence of peace in troubled Afghanistan.
Meanwhile a seventh round of talk between the warring sides began on Saturday in Qatar’s capital of Doha, where the U.S. and Taliban negotiators have been trying to hammer out a deal to end to the 18-year-long war.
The Emir of Qatar was on a trip to Pakistan when the talks began in Doha in between the US and the Taliban negotiators.
“Once the timetable for foreign force withdrawal is announced, then talks will automatically enter the next stage,” said Sohail Shaheen, a spokesman for the Taliban’s political office in Doha.
The ongoing peace talks between the United States and the Taliban is to focus on working out a timeline for the withdrawal of U.S.-led troops from Afghanistan and on a Taliban guarantee that militants won’t plot attacks from Afghan soil, sources said in Doha, Monday.
While writing this story (Monday evening) , one fresh news has come to our notice which claims that the Pakistani Ambassador to the U.S. Mr. Asad Majeed on Monday, June 24, 2019, said that the ongoing peace talks with the Taliban are a “shared responsibility” with other countries, as peace talks occurred in Pakistan over the weekend.
Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan said that his country has given a “serious and sincere” effort towards ensuring the peace process in Afghanistan is achieved.
“This is not just for us, it is a shared responsibility with other countries in the region,” Khan said at a talk hosted by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a think tank in Washington on Monday.
It would not be out of place to put on record that over the weekend, dozens of Afghan leaders arrived in the town of Bhurban, near Pakistan’s capital Islamabad or close to Lahore, to discuss how peace could be achieved in the war-torn country with top Pakistani officials.
At this conference Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had on Saturday, 22, 2019, called for trust to be rebuilt between Islamabad and Kabul as Pakistan began a new initiative to bolster a faltering peace process aiming to end Afghanistan’s lengthy civil war.
After addressing this conference, FM Qereshi headed for Brussels wherein he met with the NATO secretary general. That’s all.
