Kathmandu, 27 February: CPN-UML leader Bhim Rawal has said that the MCC agreement should not be passed by the parliament. He also condemned the Nepali Congress government for trying to force the ratification of the MCC agreement. Participating in the general discussion on the MCC agreement in the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday, he claimed that the MCC would pave the way for keeping Nepal under the US umbrella and for foreigners to run a parallel government.
Rawal also said that the thinking and behaviour of considering national independence as secondary for power and chair are reprehensible.
He also condemned the government for trying to suppress the voices raised against the MCC by ignoring the interest of Nepal and the voice of the Nepali people. He said that the proposal of the “explain note” on MCC would be similar to the resolution on Mahakali Treaty, adding that it is a deception of the people. Rawal said, “Raising issues like national independence amid such uproar is a betrayal of the country, a betrayal of the people, an insult to the Nepali nation. Such an insulting government will go down in history as a traitor.
