Kathmandu, 2 August: Coinciding with the 67th anniversary of the establishment of Nepal-China diplomatic relations, a commerce delegation from the Kunming City, Yunnan Province of China has called on Pokhara Metropolitan City mayor Dhan Raj Acharya.
During the meeting discussions were held on how the two cities could collaborate in future. The five-member delegation from Kunming City is led by Lingchen Hun. Construction of a theme park of various cities with which Pokhara metropolis has established sister city relations and designating a special corner reflecting the identity of these cities in the theme park also figured in the discussion.
A Chinese team is studying the existing parks in the city for constructing the theme park. The Kunming City delegation on the occasion pledged to donate medical equipment worth Rs 5 million to Pokhara metropolis. Mayor Acharya also urged the Kunming city team to take initiatives for starting direct air connectivity between Pokhara and Kunming after the operation of Pokhara International Airport.
The Pokhara Metropolitan City has established sisterly relations with Kunming, Guangzhou, Yibin, Chiuchow, Haikou, Nanning and other Chinese cities. Apart from these, Pokhara has also established sister city ties with Komanage city of Japan, Adler city of Turkey and Gangbuk city of South Korea.
