Dairy farmers are in trouble as dairy industries not paying farmers’ dues

Kathmandu, March 2: The political leadership has already destroyed Nepal’s established industries. Moreover, the leadership has also destroyed the agriculture sector by discouraging local farmers.

Now, the leadership is intended to destroy the dairy industry by troubling the dairy farmers.

The government-owned Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) has not paid dues worth six billion rupees to the dairy farmers, and they are launching protests against the government by throwing milk on highways. The private-sector dairy industry is also refusing to pay dues to the farmers.

The dairy farmers are saying that they are unable to continue their profession as dues are mounting.

Nepal is 80 percent self-reliant on dairy products. However, due to the flood of Indian dairy products through legal and smuggling channels, the market is dominated by Indian producers, so Nepali farmers have become a victims.

The Nepal government is reluctant to take prompt action to pay the dues of the dairy farmers and stop foreign dairy products in the country, which is sure to force the dairy farmers to quit their profession.
