Kathmandu, May 12: Balen Shah, mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has demanded that the then government led by KP Oli be brought under the scope of action.
He said that action should be taken against the then prime minister KP Oli’s government that allowed the swapping of more than 300 bighas of land under the Giribandhu Tea Estate in Jhapa.
Balen demanded action for them through the social network Facebook. He has written, “The decision of the then KP Oli government to swap about 344 bighas of land under the Giribandhu Tea Estate in Jhapa was termed by the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court as “totally unfair, immature and subject to loan conditions. If the purpose of the land given in the limited concession ends, the government should take back the land”.
“Now there should be a tea garden or that land will belong to the government,” Balen has remarked. According to him, the land is currently worth more than 10 billion
“Now, this government should make the then government a party to take action,” he said, “Whoever has paid advance to acquire land there, initiate the legal process to get back their money, as they will not get the land”, Balen has stated.
